Texting-
We've all done it or at the very least heard of it. Text messaging has sweept our nation but more specifically our youth. Sure it's not uncommon for a parent to text their children with request and/or questions. But with this day and age is Texting becoming a problem, an addiction we won't be able to overcome?
I've done it myself, at dinner, at the movies, at school, and yes at a stop light once or twice. Dangerous? Yes. Reckless? Prehaps. Uncommon? No. With the time it takes to send a simple "Hey how are you? Did you remember to pick up the milk from walmart?" text to your sibling it's not uncommon to see drivers doing just this. That lengthly sentence is broken down to "Hi how r u? Did u get milk from walmart?" which is much shorter and quicker to type on a phone.
To be honest the real problem comes from the seperation with your surrondings. When texting while talking it isn't uncommon to be heard saying "I was gonn...uh... I was gonna mow the lawn... uh... on friday" Sure the incoherrent babbling may not bother some, but when texting you are indeed putting yourself and those around you at risk if you choose to drive. From simple speech stammering to tire squeeling and brake smashing, it makes no difference if you text and drive you might as well close your eyes.
